JOURNAL BEARING APPARATUS
This lab demonstration equipment consists of a plain steel shaft erected in a bearing and directly driven by a FHP Motor. This bearing is independently mounted on the shaft and sealed at the motor end. Speed of the motor is adjusted according to the experiment by the speed control unit. A compound pressure gauge is fitted on bearing to measure the pressure at various positions around the circumference. The bearing rotates independently and can be fixed at any position of circular scale as required. An arrangement is provided so that the bearing can be easily loaded by attaching weights to the arm beneath it.
SCOPE OF STUDY:
- Study the pressure profile of lubricating oil at various conditions of load and speed.
- To Plot the Cartesian polar pressure curves.

Oil recommended : SAE 40
Pressure measurement : Compound Pressure gauge (-1 to 1) Kg/cm2
Control Panel Features:
RPM measurement is done by digital RPM indicator with proximity sensor (non contact type) Variac, Standard make on-off switch, mains indicator & fuse etc.
*An ENGLISH instruction manual with elaborate experimental procedures and block diagram etc. shall be provided with the training system set-up.
