This training set-up consists of a Centrifugal Pump Test Rig which is a self-contained unit operated on closed circuit basis containing a sump tank. The set-up consists of a Centrifugal pump coupled with an AC Motor. Flow of water is measured by using measuring tank and stopwatch. Vacuum gauge is fitted on suction line and Pressure gauge is fitted on delivery line to measure the pressure.

Scope of Study:

  • To determine total head, overall efficiency and pump efficiency of the centrifugal pump.
  • To plot Head vs Discharge, Pump efficiency vs Discharge.

Pump                    :               Kirloskar Make, Capacity 1 HP Speed 2800 RPM (max.), Head 12 m (max.)

Medium Flow    :               Clear Water

Drive                     :               1 HP motor, Crompton/Standard make having Step Cone Pulley  for Three different speeds.

Sump Tank          :               Capacity 110 Ltrs.(approx.)

RPM measurement         :               RPM Indicator with Proximity sensor.

Flow Measurement        :               Using Measuring Tank with Piezometer,  Capacity 70 Ltrs.(approx.)

Stop Watch         :               Electronic.

Pressure Gauge :               Bourdon type.

Control Panel Consists of:

Energy measurement    :               Electronic Energy meter, L&T make.

RPM measurement         :               Digital RPM Indicator with Proximity sensor.

MCB      :               For overload protection.

Standard make On/Off Switch, Mains Indicator, etc.

Tanks made of Stainless Steel.

 *An ENGLISH instruction manual with elaborate experimental procedures and block diagram etc. shall be provided with the training system set-up.
