To perform a condensation polymerization reaction under batch condition a condensation polymerization kettle is used. Polymerization reaction can be self-catalyzed or acid catalyzed. The set-up can be used to measure the reaction rate constant along with the extent of reaction. The set-up consists of jacketed type SS reactor fitted with variable speed agitator & baffles. Reactor is fitted with Nichrome wire heaters and a digital temperature controller is installed to control the temperature. Measured quantity of nitrogen gas from the cylinder is allowed to enter the reactor. Samples are for analysis collected from different ports provided on the training set-up. The top cover is made removable for cleaning purpose. Feed is fed from top through a funnel provided with S.S. Ball Valve. An outlet is given to Condenser fitted with a Perken's triangle for collecting the condensate. Vapors are made to enter in the shell of condenser and cooling water is allowed to pass through the tube so that the resulting condensate can be collected.
