An electronic test equipment which generates different types of electrical waveforms using a wide range of frequencies is called a function generator. Mostly 1 MHz to 10 MHz function generators are used to produce common waveforms like the sine, square, triangular and saw tooth shapes. The waveforms hence generated can be either repetitive or single-shot using an internal or external trigger source. 100 KHz Audio Function generator Integrated circuits which are commonly known as IC are also available which can be used to generate waveforms. DC offset can also be added to the wave form using a function generator. Function generators are not generally recommended for low distortion or stable frequency signals because of their limitation in doing so. Signal generators are perfect for doing these jobs.
